Let’s break it down.

For 30 days you will

  1. Dress with intention every day.

This does not need to be fancy. It might be as simple as some earrings and lipstick. It might be styling something you have owned for years in a different way.

  2. Take a selfie.

Just a camera. The one on your phone is perfect. An inexpensive phone tripod is helpful, or just prop it up against a shelf.

  3. Log in to The Changing Room and share.

You can tell us how you felt that day getting dressed, you can ask for styling ideas… you can say nothing and just post the photo.

That’s it. It’s that simple.

One simple act of showing up daily for yourself in a community of other women doing the same thing for themselves. It’s a daily practice of taking up space unapologetically, it’s the act of showing yourself that you can be consistent by doing this small thing every day. It’s allowing yourself to be vulnerable, but in a safe environment.

I think you might be surprised by what you learn about yourself over the course of those 30 days.

Let’s see where we can get, together.

I chose getting dressed.

Eight months ago, I was in a real funk. After having a baby at 40, moving abroad, and experiencing the lovely collision of postpartum and perimenopause, I felt pretty far removed from myself.

In an effort to feel better, I started looking for small ways to show up for myself again. Ways to become a more active participant in my own life instead of feeling like I was watching it happen around me. Ways to stop hiding.

I know it’s not exactly earth-shattering, but I started with getting dressed.

That one small decision slowly became a habit, and that habit started making room for others. Little things that helped me feel more like myself again.

Posting pictures of myself on the internet was terrifying at first. But something about allowing myself to be seen, over and over again, forced me to confront some pretty deeply ingrained feelings of shame. And slowly, in ways I never could have anticipated, I started to feel a little freer.

Which got me thinking.

What if other women could experience some of this too? The accountability, the encouragement, the strange freedom that comes from letting yourself be seen.

But without Cathy from HR or your teenager’s friends watching?

Because, understandably, not everyone wants to put their entire life on the internet.

And so I created this space. Welcome.

Elizabeth

No trolls. No algorithm.

Your own amazing hype crew.

Inside the challenge room, we will post our daily outfits and get comfortable with being seen. And most importantly, we will always cheer each other on.

Turns out… something pretty wonderful happens when women start showing up for themselves.

“I never would have thought that something so apparently trivial would make such a difference in everyday life. Being asked to show up for ourselves is equal to loving ourselves more and more everyday.”
“I realized that I have been putting off outfit photos because I was worried about getting the perfect shot. I’ve created the rule that for now, I just use the full length mirror and call it a day so that it gets done!”
“I’m not a really fashion person … I think that’s the first time I took pictures in front of a mirror in the last 20 years 😂”
“It’s not necessarily a huge game changer in a given day (i think it is over time tho), but it’s just ‘I feel a little bit better.’ I didn’t post yesterday; and I felt it.”

You won’t be all fixed.

Everything won’t be sorted in the end,

but you’ll change.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes.

Who sees my photos?

Only the women in the November Challenge room. No trolls. No algorithm.

What if I’ve never photographed myself?

For someone who has never photographed themselves, or who struggles to actually get dressed, doing it every day will be the challenge. It’s okay to not be ready. I’m learning quickly being ready is a big myth.

What if I miss a day?

Come back the next day. No catch-up. For many of us, consistency is so tough.

Do I need to be into fashion?

No. It’s about creating a small, daily habit for yourself as a form of self care.

Is it only for women?

Yes. Women only.

Do I need gear?

Just a camera. The one on your phone is perfect. An inexpensive phone tripod is helpful, or just prop it up against a shelf.

Where will we be posting our daily outfits?

In a special, private part of The Changing Room’s online community. Only women who join the challenge can see it. There’s a free app (a browser works too), and with notifications on you won’t miss anything.

What’s the difference between this challenge and The Changing Room?

The Changing Room is an ongoing, members-only community where we share our daily outfits, get to know each other, and have honest conversations about the challenges (and joys) of being women in midlife. It’s a place to show up as you are, be a little vulnerable, and find support from women who are navigating many of the same things.

Membership is a year-long commitment, while this challenge is just 30 days. Think of it as a chance to experience what showing up for yourself, and being part of a community like this, might actually feel like before committing to a full year.

Am I joining The Changing Room?

You’re joining the November Challenge room only. If you love it, I’ll invite you into The Changing Room at the end.

I’m already in The Changing Room. Can I join?

Yes, same link. The November Challenge room appears alongside everything else.

30 days from now, your life might look exactly the same…

But maybe you’ll have started wearing the clothes you love again. Maybe you’ll have made a few new friends. Maybe you’ll feel just a little more comfortable in your own skin.

And maybe getting dressed in the morning will have become something you actually look forward to.
